Diamond Cup Wheels

Contractors complete construction projects quicker than ever, as tight deadlines and performance-based incentives often drive the efforts.

That said, these jobs expect quality, so there's no room for sloppiness. Concrete and masonry cutting largely factors into these kinds of projects, and you'll need dependable, efficient equipment to tackle those tasks in your allotted timeframe.

Diamond cup wheels are some of the most popular tools in the industry, and Ace Cutting & Suppy Inc. can provide you with the best ones on the market. With more than 100 years of combined experience on staff, you can feel confident in our ability to analyze your situation and recommend the best products.

How Do Diamond Grinding Wheels Work?

There is an extensive amount of tools designed to grind concrete and other abrasive materials, so diamond cup wheels aren't exactly revolutionary.

However, they also offer increased speed and improved dispersion of residue from the surface area, which makes them ideal candidates for coating and adhesive removal. That said, they also make for fine tools when removing excess concrete, pre-polishing and leveling.

The success of diamond cup wheels is predicated on four main areas:

  • Surface area: Each task might call for varying aggressiveness and speed, and those qualities are primarily determined through the total surface area of the wheel's segments. Decreasing the surface area leads to more aggressive grinds, while larger surface areas increase speed.
  • Segment shape: The shape of the segment also plays a hand in how aggressive a wheel is, and it affects dispersion characteristics as well. Sharper leading edges on segments will result in more aggression, while tapered shapes will offer better dispersion when oriented in the right direction.
  • Segment bond: The bond of a segment can significantly impact its wear, as well as its overall performance. The bond suspends the diamonds of the wheel, and it wears away to continually exposure the diamonds as the points break away from repeated grinding. The rating of the bond will affect this erosion rate.
  • Grit: Grit references the finishing quality of the diamonds. The lower numbers represent larger pieces of diamonds, which create a coarser finish. Higher numbers mean finer diamonds, which means you'll receive a smoother finish.

When considering all of these factors together, we'll be able to find your ideal solution much more easily.

Types of Concrete Grinding Wheels That We Offer

Our catalog carries a series of options, many of which are customizable in the various areas mentioned earlier, as well as overall size. The most popular choices include 4", 5" and 7".

If you need a quick remover of glues and finishes, we carry an Arrow Series wheel that will slice through your target surface with little difficulty. The Vari Cut and Star Blue series are both excellent general purpose options, which makes them fit for masonry, concrete, stone and other materials.

Tackling mastic, urethane and epoxy finishes will be no problem with a 16 grit aggressive grinding disc from Zek Wheels. Easy Edge diamond grinding wheels improve the quality of edge work while reducing the scratches and gouging that result from lower-quality tools.
